September-December seem like a blur to me, a blurry mess of little wooden prims, colors, and scupltie apples melting into shelves. That's how long I'd been at it- putting out the fall collection with a minimal break, then storming straight into winter like a blizzard. And now I have to continue working on the Spring line, which is no thang, really, but I have many other ventures I'm dipping my toes into this year that require
start up things like builds, remodeling, researching and things I wouldn't have to worry with but once a year or so- if that. Starting anything from the scratch takes extra time and effort, and THAT'S what will be eating me and my social time alive for the next few weeks. Once it's done, though-- it's DONE! This includes remodeling Essex, redoing Blensien + MaiTai and my store, diving a bit further into furniture building and making all of my own art and textures, participating in a rock concert hunt and one other thing I have yet to announce, and probably won't until WAY closer to go-time. But it's going to be pretty neat-o. So if you don't hear from me in-world for a few weeks, don't be alarmed. I'm only drowning in a sea of wooden boxes. And I can't type and build at the same time, so I won't be very chatty. Nothing personal, but I am super focused when I build
anything, and any distractions are usually ignored by my OCD. My apologies ahead of time.
A week ago I received a notice from one of my favorite sims,
Decoch, stating they had a room for rent. Curious as ever, I went by and checked it out, the view grabbing me instantly. It was then I decided to live there for a week- get away from Essex, building and responsibility, and focus on myself. I tend to always put myself last. Making others happy makes
me happy, which I guess is partially for me, but sometimes I need to re-center and focus all of my positive energy on "The Page". So I did. I moved into the room, furnished it within my 50 prim allotment, went through my inventory unpacking gifts, visited with friends, pampered my avatar with a full make over and shopped. It was total virtual bliss. And I snapped some pictures during my refresher.
The scenery outside of my second floor apartment was breath-taking. Folds of lush greenery cradled wild flowers from a cliff overlooking the coast. There were also little hideaways tucked all over with sofas, blankets, tents and other random pieces for relaxation. When you venture around the corner from my room, you pass through a field of vibrant art and tall wild flowers leading to a small village packed with stores, a small art gallery and an extremely artsy little cafe. But as in awe as I was with the old Italian-style village of
Decoch. I didn't spend all of my time lost in its dreamy canvas. I visited Brayden's hip new bachelor pad where were jived to Sinatra. When Tara sent out a
Melino Style group notice announcing her new floor sofas, I was at her store with my friend Glow and all over them, resting my bones in an array of fun poses on the plush, vibrant fabrics. I ended up leaving with two.
One of my favorite SL hobbies is grabbing my prim board and setting out for the waves. I LOVE Second Life surfing, and since it had been a long while since I'd went, I had no clue where to go. I ended up in
Oahu, Hawaii (who'd have thought, right?), catching waves while trying to snap photos. NOT an easy task, but I somehow managed after a bunch of wipe-outs. This year, one of my projects will include my own waves, which I've had and not rezzed in years.
Back in Decoch, I spent some time with my friend Bill who'd told me I reminded him of Wonder Woman due to how I manage to keep up with everything. That night I received a package from him- a Wonder Woman costume, which I had absolutely NO SHAME in wearing around the sim. Speaking of keeping up- I did do a tiny bit of work, and made a nice
new vinyl tote dollarbie for my group and others and set it out at my store. I can't even go a week without spoiling people. I also spoiled and treated myself to an extensive make-over! I spent an entire 24 hours trying on new skins, and once I found my perfect fit, I added prim lashes, took advantage of some hair sales and sat around Decoch in a few of my favorite spots going through all of the new shoes and clothes in my inventory. Unfortunately, I -still- do not have it all unpacked. BUT- it will be like Christmas every day until I do! I'm pictured here in the cafe and the sim owner's art gallery.
AND more dancing was in order! So Bill and myself took off to a Japanese garden after shopping at Reek, and frolicked about the gorgeous flowers with our sweeeeet dance moves (and my sweet new hat and bikini)! And I guess karma digs me, because I kept finding little packages from friends waiting for me at my vacation door. Brutus of
Pididdle sent me her latest and greatest
Anya Totes for Fashionably Late, which I absolutely adore! They are swaddled in gorgeous black leather with white leather straps and lovely bronze accents. The zipper even has a little tassel. She set two versions- plain black and a special zebra skinned one. They ALSO come with a bunch of poses and ways to wear them, and for me, they were life savers since I'd shopped so much and were carried all over Decoch, even up the loooong stairs pictured above.
I also decided that if I ever open a fish fry and bar, I'm calling
PDA's Izzy Bereznyak. He has this
kick ass new chair for Collab88 that he sent me with rounded rope seating and boat wheel backing, as if he went snorkeling, found an old ship lost at sea and rummaged it for furniture pieces. It comes in 3 colors including the natural and the blue pictured above, as well as pink. And as you can see, one matched the decor in my rental room perfectly! The other blended right in with Decoch. And the poses? The stools are loaded with the kind of high-quality, fun-to-sultry poses you always find at PDA. Inspired, before I left, I got the building itch again and made another
tote in brown leather to match the studded journal from the 12 Days Holiday event. It was also used to haul lovelies around Decoch and is
only 10L at my store! I could not, however, fit Izzy's chair in it. It's not NEARLY as fab at Bru's tote, but that's why SHE makes the fashion and -I- make the furnishings. When I make totes, I usually make them to match something I'm wearing, which is why I sell them so cheap or give them away. It's all in great fun.
As you can see, my vacation was a success! And I still have a week left on my rental. I'll probably go back and forth as I build for scenery changes. And Plura suggested we make a special building platform to share since we are ALWAYS on the same sim and NEVER see each other. It would be chill to have a fun hang out to share and build in. We've already decided she will have the stream. NOW- back to work, but I promise all of you, my time locked away will be so much worth it for not only myself, but everyone who enjoys my creations. Thanks for reading!
