F.U.N. For February!

Did I go on a vacation? I almost forgot! I'm back in action and busy as a bee, and you'll get to enjoy the spoils with a February stuffed with excitement!

February is going to be a month of extraordinary hunts!

We start January 20th with the "Where's The Concert? Hunt", a hunt unlike ANY other in SL. .::La Flat::., along with 51 other stores, have special concert tickets hidden in their shops. Each ticket holds a free gift and sends you to the next location! Once you've conquered all 52 locations, you get an exclusive pass to a concert event featuring The Follow and Mankind Tracer, both together in ONE NIGHT! And the location is a SECRET, so only those who complete the hunt can attend. You will find gifts from designers like Gizza, Leezu, Purple Moon, Diva and more! And my gift? A BAND ATTIC with art, bar, a boombox with music stations to rez and one with a pose you can carry around! There's also a cozy seating area with animations by PDA, fireplace and a drink dispenser so you can party it up after the concert.

January 29th is the start of another fab designer-filled hunt! The Season's Palette Hunt! Every item in this hunt is based on the 2012 winter color palette, with fresh blues, bright reds, soft creams and other popping colors. .::La Flat::. is joining Bliensen+MaiTai, JeSylilo, C'est La Vie!, Vero Modero and other amazing designers for this event. And keeping within the color scheme, I am giving away a soft, cozy chair set with PDA and SR3D poses and a matching mirror! And the chairs are COPY so you can rez lots and lots for guests! It also goes with the band attic pictured above. How about them apples?

AND... speaking of attics, .::La Flat::. is joining Black Lace, DeeTalez, Sinful, Sassy and 10 other designers at Brandy's Attic, what's soon to be a shop modeled after the NYC stores of the 1970's! It's still under construction along with the rest of the set up (called The Village), but has plans on opening February 1st! All store items in-store will be 200L or less, so the prices are just as retro as the goods. And there will also be a club on sim based on the late CBGB's called Club Graffiti, so you can shop retro-style and rock out with SL's BEST musical talents!

BUT..out of all of this.. there is one special event I can't share with all of SL, but I will plan on celebrating with a special February group gift, which is in the making! MY SON'S 12TH BIRTHDAY! Yep! 2 days before Valentine's my son turns 12!!

Here's to what's looking to be a GRAND 2012! And the spring line is STILL in the making along with other things, so there's MUCH more to come. CHEERS!

Vacation- All I Ever Wanted...

September-December seem like a blur to me, a blurry mess of little wooden prims, colors, and scupltie apples melting into shelves. That's how long I'd been at it- putting out the fall collection with a minimal break, then storming straight into winter like a blizzard. And now I have to continue working on the Spring line, which is no thang, really, but I have many other ventures I'm dipping my toes into this year that require start up things like builds, remodeling, researching and things I wouldn't have to worry with but once a year or so- if that. Starting anything from the scratch takes extra time and effort, and THAT'S what will be eating me and my social time alive for the next few weeks. Once it's done, though-- it's DONE! This includes remodeling Essex, redoing Blensien + MaiTai and my store, diving a bit further into furniture building and making all of my own art and textures, participating in a rock concert hunt and one other thing I have yet to announce, and probably won't until WAY closer to go-time. But it's going to be pretty neat-o. So if you don't hear from me in-world for a few weeks, don't be alarmed. I'm only drowning in a sea of wooden boxes. And I can't type and build at the same time, so I won't be very chatty. Nothing personal, but I am super focused when I build anything, and any distractions are usually ignored by my OCD. My apologies ahead of time.

A week ago I received a notice from one of my favorite sims, Decoch, stating they had a room for rent. Curious as ever, I went by and checked it out, the view grabbing me instantly. It was then I decided to live there for a week- get away from Essex, building and responsibility, and focus on myself. I tend to always put myself last. Making others happy makes me happy, which I guess is partially for me, but sometimes I need to re-center and focus all of my positive energy on "The Page". So I did. I moved into the room, furnished it within my 50 prim allotment, went through my inventory unpacking gifts, visited with friends, pampered my avatar with a full make over and shopped. It was total virtual bliss. And I snapped some pictures during my refresher.

The scenery outside of my second floor apartment was breath-taking. Folds of lush greenery cradled wild flowers from a cliff overlooking the coast. There were also little hideaways tucked all over with sofas, blankets, tents and other random pieces for relaxation. When you venture around the corner from my room, you pass through a field of vibrant art and tall wild flowers leading to a small village packed with stores, a small art gallery and an extremely artsy little cafe. But as in awe as I was with the old Italian-style village of Decoch. I didn't spend all of my time lost in its dreamy canvas. I visited Brayden's hip new bachelor pad where were jived to Sinatra. When Tara sent out a Melino Style group notice announcing her new floor sofas, I was at her store with my friend Glow and all over them, resting my bones in an array of fun poses on the plush, vibrant fabrics. I ended up leaving with two.

One of my favorite SL hobbies is grabbing my prim board and setting out for the waves. I LOVE Second Life surfing, and since it had been a long while since I'd went, I had no clue where to go. I ended up in Oahu, Hawaii (who'd have thought, right?), catching waves while trying to snap photos. NOT an easy task, but I somehow managed after a bunch of wipe-outs. This year, one of my projects will include my own waves, which I've had and not rezzed in years.

Back in Decoch, I spent some time with my friend Bill who'd told me I reminded him of Wonder Woman due to how I manage to keep up with everything. That night I received a package from him- a Wonder Woman costume, which I had absolutely NO SHAME in wearing around the sim. Speaking of keeping up- I did do a tiny bit of work, and made a nice new vinyl tote dollarbie for my group and others and set it out at my store. I can't even go a week without spoiling people. I also spoiled and treated myself to an extensive make-over! I spent an entire 24 hours trying on new skins, and once I found my perfect fit, I added prim lashes, took advantage of some hair sales and sat around Decoch in a few of my favorite spots going through all of the new shoes and clothes in my inventory. Unfortunately, I -still- do not have it all unpacked. BUT- it will be like Christmas every day until I do! I'm pictured here in the cafe and the sim owner's art gallery.

AND more dancing was in order! So Bill and myself took off to a Japanese garden after shopping at Reek, and frolicked about the gorgeous flowers with our sweeeeet dance moves (and my sweet new hat and bikini)! And I guess karma digs me, because I kept finding little packages from friends waiting for me at my vacation door. Brutus of Pididdle sent me her latest and greatest Anya Totes for Fashionably Late, which I absolutely adore! They are swaddled in gorgeous black leather with white leather straps and lovely bronze accents. The zipper even has a little tassel. She set two versions- plain black and a special zebra skinned one. They ALSO come with a bunch of poses and ways to wear them, and for me, they were life savers since I'd shopped so much and were carried all over Decoch, even up the loooong stairs pictured above.

I also decided that if I ever open a fish fry and bar, I'm calling PDA's Izzy Bereznyak. He has this kick ass new chair for Collab88 that he sent me with rounded rope seating and boat wheel backing, as if he went snorkeling, found an old ship lost at sea and rummaged it for furniture pieces. It comes in 3 colors including the natural and the blue pictured above, as well as pink. And as you can see, one matched the decor in my rental room perfectly! The other blended right in with Decoch. And the poses? The stools are loaded with the kind of high-quality, fun-to-sultry poses you always find at PDA. Inspired, before I left, I got the building itch again and made another tote in brown leather to match the studded journal from the 12 Days Holiday event. It was also used to haul lovelies around Decoch and is only 10L at my store! I could not, however, fit Izzy's chair in it. It's not NEARLY as fab at Bru's tote, but that's why SHE makes the fashion and -I- make the furnishings. When I make totes, I usually make them to match something I'm wearing, which is why I sell them so cheap or give them away. It's all in great fun.

As you can see, my vacation was a success! And I still have a week left on my rental. I'll probably go back and forth as I build for scenery changes. And Plura suggested we make a special building platform to share since we are ALWAYS on the same sim and NEVER see each other. It would be chill to have a fun hang out to share and build in. We've already decided she will have the stream. NOW- back to work, but I promise all of you, my time locked away will be so much worth it for not only myself, but everyone who enjoys my creations. Thanks for reading!

.::La Flat::. YOU TUBE VIDEO REVIEW

So far I have had a pretty wonderful vacation! I've taken the post-holiday week off to re-center before finishing up a massive pile of projects for 2012, including the Spring Collection! I have a bunch of photos to share with everyone once my vacation is over, including pics of my get-away in the beautiful Italian town of Decoch, friend photos and my make-over from 2012. Those of you who keep up with my Flickr and Facebook, have already seen a few photos.

BUT! For now- some NEWS!

For starters, I have some dollarbie gifts at BOTH .::La Flat:: locations including my satellite store at the Deco Club and Mall. I also have a dollarbie Skybox sale on some older skyboxes and mini- skyboxes! Here's a photo of the lovely Vinyl Record Tote you can find for 1L at The Deco Club and Mall location.

And I already mentioned this year was going to be HUGE, right? Well, we are kicking it off with two awesome events! .::La Flat::. will be participating in the "Where Is The Concert" Hunt, featuring SL musicians Mankind Tracer and The Follow! Plus, in February, we will have a cart at the Bi-Annual Cart Sale at The Wash! I will have more details closer to go-time.

But my major news for this post is an AMAZING YOU TUBE review I received last night from creator and video blogger Nova2009 Avril! She and friend Mark Ormidale took a walk through my New York City Penthouse and gave it a very stellar review! I could not be happier right now! Thank you both SO SO MUCH! This is my very first You Tube review, and they both did SUCH a great job all the way down to the music and camera angles. I also found myself giggling at some of their comments.

As for Mark's idea of adding changing back drops, I did think about that, but getting the one texture I used to rez SO perfectly was NOT easy. In fact, I got lucky the back drop came out as clean as it did. Many larger skybox scenes are often blurred or pixelate when zooming in and out. This certain texture was perfect because it would fit both day and night view, and there was barely any blur upon zooming or camming close up. To find other textures that were as large and as clean as that one would be very time consuming, which would add to the price of the home. And it IS a large texture, and the larger the texture, the more lag. Adding a few more larger textures along with a script could create lag, and two things I have ALWAYS tried to keep true to with my builds are low prim and low lag. That's why I rarely do door or window scripts. I -do- hope that makes sense, and if anyone has a resolution to this, PLEASE share. I learn new things every day! And THANK YOU Nova and Mark for this review. I appreciate this SO SO MUCH!

Now I'm off to finish my vacation with an inventory to sort and a tattoo to finish. Much love to everyone!

.::La Flat::. So! Sooo Secret CONTEST WINNERS!

During December I had a special contest within the .::La Flat::. group. I asked for Group Members to send me two photos displaying their ultimate urban selves. I wanted to get an idea of who my Members were, find out what they were into and what they liked through some amazing visuals. The gang came through with some stunning pics! But I could only pick a small handful. Here's that handful, and WHY their photos were picked. Drum roll please?

1|| Anichka Savira

WE ACCEPT FOOD STAMPS! I could NOT stop giggling at that! How ghetto is THAT?? I LOVE IT!! And Anichka totally shines in this and could stop traffic in that outfit. And the boots and the hair? VERY Nancy Sinatra! I'm not sure what's in the bag, but if it's Chinese take out, don't tell POSIE! She'll steal it!

2|| Jasmine0Alaya Resident

The jeans are awesome- the HUGS are free! It was hard to pick a fave of the two she sent because her style is killer, and the other had RECORDS!! - But the winged shadow in this was creative and imaginative, and very, very beautiful. This photo is such an excellent reminder that there is softness in this hard ball of a world. It also reminds me that I need to raid her closet.

3|| Fiddlejenny Rain

I LOVE the holidays, but I HATE the cold, and when I saw FiddleJen stepping from this cab, I could actually feel her shiver in this adorable pose. And what's more urban that stepping from a freezing taxi in those kick ass boots? Stepping from a freezing taxi and onto an urban street with a guitar shop! It's hiding behind her bow. ;)

4|| Sheyrena Rhiadra

Simple- elegant- colorful. Urban isn't always well-lit and busy. Being urban can be walking down a quiet street in the rain late at night or on a Sunday afternoon. It's the tiny details in Shey's style that set this apart. SHE is the urban scenery in this photo with the vibrant umbrella, sassy cleavage, wild blonde locks and elegant pose. And I'd kill for those lashes!

5|| bil74 Shan

Bill again reminds us that urban can be quiet as well as soft. He finds peace in the back alley of what could be quite a busy city. I especially love the graffiti walls and the pillow he's seated on- and he ties himself into the photo and all of the vivid colors with an amazing beaded necklace- nothing more since his slacks are black and he's bare-chested (wuba..wuba, anyone?) This would be a FAB ad for the necklace designer.

CONGRATS to all of the lucky as ducky winners! These fab five will be modeling for .::La Flat::. - posing in a few of my fave urban SL spots with their photos used as accents for the upcoming Spring Collection! How exactly will their photos be used as accents? That's the secret! You'll have to wait until my FAVORITE season to find out.

And for their incredible efforts, they will each receive the ENTIRE Spring Collection as their prizes, so not only will they enjoy dining, chilling, working and playing on their .::La Flat::. goodies, but will also be able to admire there photogenic selves as .::La Flat::. because .::La Flat::. is all about YOU folks- those who LOVE my designs and inspire me to continue creating. Thank all of you- winners, contestants, group members and everyone for giving me and .::La Flat::. such a remarkable year. I mean this from the bottom of my heart. Next year? It's going to be a ringer!

If you missed this round, keep your eyes peeled. I have another contest coming soon. Here's a hint- have those spaces dressed proper! Your personal space -could- make YOU the next winner!

My Spectacular Christmas 20ELEVEN- SL Style

After a RL morning of watching my son and dog, the famous Bjorn, open gifts, we enjoyed a holiday brunch, then I took the kiddo to meet with his dad. I ended up spending a quiet evening at home relaxing, and what could be more relaxing than visiting some of my fave home and furnishings stores to take in the beauty of their holiday decor? Christmas -is- only once a year, and it's SUCH a magical time. There were so MANY gorgeous places with holiday beauty in every corner of their locations, but a few truly struck my heart because of how very unique they were. I hopped around the grid with the girls (Chre & Posie), and took some photos to share with everyone. I also visited with friends new and old....

Christmas Eve was spent having dinner with my son and enjoying "'Twas The Night Before Christmas," which we read every year before my son nods of to bed. Gifts were put undr the tree for him and Bjorn, then I met up with a new SL friend I met via Facebook named Toxx. We got royally dolled up and took off dancing in the snow, chatting and whirling the night away. The dress from OC and fur by Chantkare couldn't have been more perfect for such an occasion.

I couldn't hang up that dress too quickly, especially paired up with the final advent day jewels from Chop Zuey that REALLY set off the sparkle. Early Christmas morning and took off to the breath-taking Osmose sim which was lavishly decked out for Winter. There were whimsical things to explore around every corner, including this ghostly piano. A photo was needed. Pose by sr-3d Poses.

Once coffee was gulped and wrapping paper shred and left on my living room floor, I decided to enjoy my Christmas morning quietly re-visiting some of my favorite home and decor designers and their holiday set ups. There were TOO many to post, so I chose those that I thought were the most unique, and one of those was the Moroccan stylings from Melino Style. This fireplace is truly gorgeous decked out in garland which perfectly lines the curves of its old-world frame. Tara also had lots of nutcrackers and fun reindeer about for sale. It was really a unique little shop with tons of color and whimsy for the holidays. Chre curls up next to the fireplace in a pantsuit by Blanche's Boutique and a sweet necklace which was one of the ||12 Days gifts from Bliensen+MaiTai. Pose by PDA.

I ALWAYS enjoy stopping by Dutchie to see what she has going on. This month, she put out a beautiful mesh kitchen! There was no holiday decor about to go with the kitchen, so I brought Chre to one of her spectacular homes and made some sexy use of the balcony in lingerie by Blacklace. The view from the balcony was simply stellar, stretching over her estate of homes, barns and wonderfully sculpted decor. I felt a bit like a Southern Bell up there, waving to the gardner below while the hub was away on important business. Bow chicka bow bow.... Pose by PDA

One of the things I adore about BoatHouse is the array of food and pottery strewn about the store. Little Posie, known for her wild appetite, happened upon the Christmas cookies first! Izziebellah had all KINDS of sweet, folky holiday goodies at her shop, and many for under 50L so anyone on a budget could shop and come out with enough lovelies to decorate their own places as well as their loved ones in the form of gifts. Her items are extremely unique- the kinds you'd find at the local flea market or second hand store rather than a Target, which will give any SL home more interest and personality instantly. Many even have that hand-made look about them so when surrounded by them, you feel as if you are amongst Grandma's treasures. Her stuff really gives a warm sense of love, which I am sure she put into every little piece. The awesome snow shoes Posie is hobbling around on were a fantastic group gift by Meil! The pose is again one by Izzie of PDA.

A true favorite of mine was the new home at L2 Studios. Lindini did such an amazing job furnishing the demo home with things from different designers, and she didn't over-do it, kept it soft and tranquil, and even had caroling music you could hear as you sat by the roaring fire. The natural simplicity of the set-up was so comforting- perfect for vegging out after a heavy holiday meal. Posie took a moment to rest with Lindi's little family of pets in a lacy onesie by Opaque and a gift hair from Exile.

When it comes to eye-catching fabrics and rustic spaces splashed with color, Mudshake takes the fruit cake. This year's holiday home was adorable- warm, lively and vibrant with every nook and cranny ringing with calm, holiday cheer. This little sofa was the perfect place to stretch out in Maitreya's new mesh line! I absolutely LOVE the scoop on the back and how you can actually look down into the sweater. It's so natural!

And if you were member of certain groups, you didn't have to leave your parcel to find holiday surroundings. They came to YOU! Hucci sent out an AMAZING skybox, set up for a vintage holiday party with tables, chairs, a bar and even this stage for guest's entertainment as a group gift. Chre takes the stage in full sparkle, probably after having a few hard drinks, and belts out a tune on the animated mic. So sooo classy and festive!

Drinkinstein of The Sea Hole gifted members of her group with a brilliant winter cliff home- two stories of perfectly-textured walls, ceilings and simple decor like rugs, pillows and a full kitchen for cooking a holiday feast. The rugs and such even came with animated poses so Page could kick back and keep warm during this chilly holiday season. The style of the home is unique because it has this killer Tim Burton vibe to it. I think it's in the curves and details of the sculpts she used to accent the home. And I LOVE Tim Burton!

Once I was finished with my adventure, a very dear and old friend of mine came by to visit. Brayden Piers, who've I've known since 2008, and who also gave me building tips WAY back in the day, stopped into SL after some months at University. He kept me company Christmas night and uploaded tons of retro-cool Rat Pack stuff onto my TV for us to enjoy while we caught up. Thanks to him, it ended up being one of my BEST Christmases in a very long time.

The following eve it was time to tear down the Retro Christmas Cabin, but before I did, I finally took a moment to enjoy it since I never got the chance to while it was up. Bray-Bray was along for the ride, the both of us instantly brought back to a simpler time where we cheered a great holiday and holiday's past. I already can't wait to make a new cabin holiday home next year.

And last...for your giggle pleasure- BJORN! Haha! This was her very first Christmas, and she SO got into the gift-opening gig. Sorry it's so blurry, but I could NOT get her to sit still.
